Sarah ShelmerdineSenior Research Associate
Sarah Shelmerdine obtained a PhD in Psychology from the University of Cape Town in 2011 and has 11 years’ experience conducting and teaching research and evaluation. Her primary areas of specialisation include evaluation of psycho-social and healthcare related interventions; health and human rights; social aspects of healthcare delivery; organisational culture; interpersonal communication; and use of participatory research methodologies in the developing world.
She has specialised knowledge of research methodology and design, with a particular focus on qualitative research. She has extensive experience of conducting research in a range of contexts, and of formative evaluation, process evaluation, outcomes evaluation and impact assessment for a wide variety of psychosocial and healthcare related interventions in both public and private sectors. She has taught psychology, sociology, research methodology, evaluation research and social aspects of healthcare in settings ranging from universities to government departments to community based organisations in remote parts of sub-Saharan Africa. She has worked in South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Belgium and the UK. |
